The Secret Circle Episode Reviews

The Secret Circle season 1 episode 3 called Loner wasn’t what I was expecting in some ways. I thought the Loner that was being referred to was Nick Armstrong, who lost both his parents 16 years ago but it wasn’t. then I thought maybe if was the new character we meet during the episode called Zachary but again no. Instead, we find out that the Loner is none other than pretty little girl Cassie Blake. I found this hard to believe but if you don’t believe me then watch The Secret Circle online to see what I mean.

Faye Still Hasn’t Learn’t Her Lesson

Ok so last week Faye killed her classmate and her mother brought her back to life with a crystal. Of course Faye doesn’t know that but she does know that she’s lucky Sally didn’t die. Except Faye isn’t acting contrite or less obnoxious than usual. Faye continues to want to use her magic for mundane reasons such as opening the lock on her locker. However, now that the circle is bound none of them can do magic alone. An unfortunate side effect of the binding. Now another member of the circle is needed to do magic and the more members that are practicing magic together then the stronger the spell.

Sally watches Faye from across the corridor. Sally asks Cassie to help her with the school dance and tells her she keeps getting flashes of Faye. Sally thinks Faye is responsible for her accident while Cassie tries to change her mind.

Cassie The Loner

Cassie still isn’t into being a witch. She feels that now the circle is bound people are safe so there’s no reason to hang out with the other Coven members. Clearly Cassie has never seen Charmed before with the whole power of three thing.

Nick and Melissa

Nick and Melissa continue to have a secret relationship, even going so far as skipping school so they can knock boots. Melissa originally wanted their relationship to be kept quiet because she didn’t want to be seen as a slut, but now she just feels like a slut since all they do is sleep together. She tries to take their relationship into the light but Nick is just a dick and tells her he’s not really interested in her. he just wants her for sex.

Evil Parents

Charles cleans up Dawn’s mess and puts Henry’s body in the lake house making the lie to Faye at least partially true. Dawn feels bad for killing her daughters grandfather. Makes you think she wouldn’t feel bad if it had been anyone else, none related to Faye. Charles didn’t find any crystals at Henry’s house. Charles watched the kids bind the circle. Dawn and Charles realize they have to move fast before someone else catches onto what they are doing like Henry did. There are still people who remember what happened 16 years ago.

The Secret Circle LonerDiana asks why her dad and the principal are spending so much time together and Charles tells her they are dating. Diana is happy for her dad and wants him to be happy. She doesn’t seem to think through that it’s Faye’s mum so they might become one big family. I can’t imagine Faye being so calm when she finds out their parents are dating, even though it is a lie to keep the kids from figuring out what’s really going on. Charles let’s Dawn know that Diana thinks they are dating.

Blast From the Past

Zachary Larson meets Cassie and he doesn’t seem happy that she’s moved to town and plans to live here on a permanent basis. Really what other choice does she have since her Mother died and she only has her grandmother to fall back on? Zachary isn’t about to let past events happen again. Zachary knows what happened 16 years ago and he know about them being witches. Diana and Cassie use their magic together to get Zachary off Cassie.

Charles speaks with Zachary to see what it is he knows. Zachary was good friends with Cassie’s mum and Heather Barnes. He went to school with them and Amelia told him all about the magic and being a witch. Zachary attacks Charles and he is powerless to stop him since Dawn has the crystal.

When Charles recovers enough he calls Dawn and warns her about Zachary.

Zachary sees Faye trying to do magic by herself. Zachary asks if they have bound the circle proving his knowledge of the Craft. He realizes they have bound the circle because Faye is unable to do magic alone. Faye runs off before Zachary can harms her. He knows that all he has to do is kill one of them to break the circle. Faye runs to the school to find help from the crazy guy that just attacked her.

The School Dance

Yes even witches go to school dances. Adams friend Luke (guest star from Make It or Break It) asks Adam to introduce him to Cassie. Luke asks Cassie to the dance and she initially says no. Later she changes her mind and tells him she’ll meet him at the dance. [click to continue…]

The 2nd episode of The Secret Circle called Bound was exciting and gave the viewer a lot of information that helped to set up the back story and gave us a few glimpses into what happened to the parents coven and potentially what could happen to the kids coven if they are caught doing magic. If you missed this weeks episode of The Secret Circle or want to watch it again the watch The Secret Circle online.

Cassie gets a warning

The episode starts with Cassie reading the letter left to her by her deceased mother. There’s more to the letter and we find out Cassie has to be careful of whom to trust and that only her powers can keep her safe. Cassie decides to try out her magic and tries to light the candle on the mantelpiece. Instead the curtains open and the sun beams in from the window. Same result but not what Cassie intended.

Nick and Melissa

While Cassie tries to prove to herself that she is or isn’t a witch next door Nick and Melissa got it on the previous night and are only now waking up. Nick kicks Melissa out since his Aunts a Jesus freak. Melissa is more concerned about keeping their relationship a secret, especially from Faye. Melissa leaves and Nick goes back to being the guy next door with no shirt on checking out Cassie through the open window.

Clearly, Cassie has had enough of Nick’s peeping Tom routine and tries to close the curtains with magic but ends up slamming Nick’s window shut, shattering it.

The Chamberlains Have a Guest

Faye and her mother Dawn are getting ready for school. Faye is dressed like a slut and opens the door to find her grandfather Henry on the doorstep. Henry and Dawn have a chilly reunion. Turns out he is Dawn’s father-in-law and blames her for the death of his son. On a side note, he also owns the house Dawn and Faye live in.

Henry says he’s in town on business which Dawn finds hard to believe since he’s retired.

Dawn calls Charles to find out why Henry is in town.

The Secret Circle BoundTurns out Ethan Conant called Henry after Charles tried to drown him. We find out that Ethan and his circle were stripped of their powers after the tragedy 16 years ago. This would explain why Ethan didn’t fight back when Charles tried to drown him or how Cassie’s mother was killed so easily.

The Rules of Witchcraft

We find out some more rules of witchcraft in Chance Harbor when Faye apologizes to Cassie for the storm she created. Faye tells Cassie that with the circle complete their powers are magnified. Faye believes they all just need more practice to learn to control the powers while Diana believes they have to bind the circle. Binding the circle would cause a magical link between all 6 members of the coven and they would no longer have individual power but would be stronger as a group. Diana found her mums book of shadows and that’s how the kids know that they are witches. (I’m thinking her father or Dawn made sure she found that Book of Shadows). Diana is the only one with access to her family book because witchcraft is forbidden and was abolished because of what happened to their parents covens. Adam, Diana and Melissa lost their mums, Melissa and Cassie lost their dads and Nick lost both parents (which explains why he’s living with his aunt). I don’t think this adds up because of it takes 6 to have a coven I thought a whole coven died which would be 6 but if you count above that would make 7. Is Cassie’s dad still alive? Is that why Charles wants Ethan to keep his mouth shut??

Every witch is born into a circle. Their circle is made up of 6 families. A circle has more power than any one person can handle. Binding the circle is the only way they can utilize the power while controlling it. It will limit their individual abilities but strengthen them as a group.

The Past

The official story about what happened 16 years ago is that there was a party on a boat and there was a fire and that some people didn’t manage to get out. Diana believes it because they didn’t bind the circle but I don’t believe that. If they didn’t bind the circle then their powers would have been as irratic as the kids powers are now. Also would a whole circle have died if they weren’t connected? Wouldn’t just one or two die if they were working by themselves unbound? [click to continue…]

The Secret Circle pilot was awesome! Watch The Secret Circle Online.

the Secret Circle cast
The Secret Circle centres around 16 year old Cassie Blake. We meet Cassie as she is driving home when all of a sudden a car cuts in front of her and her tire blows out…… Magic perhaps?

Meanwhile, Cassie’s mum is at home cooking dinner when a strange man pulls up in front of her house. This unknown man gets out of his car and uses magic to burn her house down, killing her. I have a feeling the same guy who cut off Cassie in the car, used magic to blow out her tire, so she would not be home when he killed her mother.

The Move to Chance Harbour

With her mother dead, and her father dead right after she was born, Cassie has to move in to her grans. This is also the place her mother grew up in a small coastal town called Chance Harbour.

What a Weird Town

As soon as Cassie gets into town she starts to notice weird things. First the mysterious bad boy next door (Nick Armstrong) uses magic to open the curtains to her bedroom so he can see her getting changed….. creepy!

The next day at school Cassie meets Dawn Chamberlin, the school principle. Ms Chamberlin tells Cassie that she was a friend of Cassie’s mum. Cassie then meets Faye Chamberlain (Principles daughter) and her sidekick Melissa. Faye is the resident bad girl with an attitude. After telling Cassie she is “very pretty”….. again creepy! Faye uses magic to unlock Cassie’s locker. Cassie then runs in to the super nice girl Dianna Meade, who tells her that all the kids hang out at ‘The Boathouse’ restaurant after school.

After school, Cassie heads down to the boathouse restaurant where she meets a drunken older guy, Ethan, who knew her mother. Ready for the next creepy part? The drunken guy tells Cassie that his family and hers are destined to be together “it is written in the stars”. Cassie then meets Adam who cuts into her conversation with the drunk guy. We find out that the drunk guys is the owner of The Boathouse and Adams dad. We also find out that Adam is Dianna’s boyfriend.

The Test

The Secret CircleJust as Cassie is leaving The Boathouse, her car doors lock with her inside and smoke starts pouring out of the dashboard. It turns out that Faye wants to test if Cassie can use her witch powers. Faye uses magic to start the fire to see if Cassie could turn it out with magic. Well Cassie could not use her powers because she didn’t turn out the fire. Adam had to rip open the car door and csave Cassie while putting out the fire.

You Are a Witch!

The next morning Cassie wakes up to find a note from her grandmother letting her know she has headed into town. Cassie needs to talk to her gran so she heads into town looking for her. Instead of her gran, Cassie runs into Charles Meade. We know he’s the guy that killed her mother but Cassie doesn’t know that. We also find out Charles Meade is also Dianna’s father.

The Secret Circle PilotAfter telling Dianna that Chance Harbour ‘is a freaking sideshow’ Diane decided to make things weirder by taking Cassie to an old abandoned house. In the house Cassie find Adam, Nick, Faye and Melissa. They confront her and tell her that she is witch and she belongs to one of the six families of witches in Chance Harbour. They tell Cassie that up until she got to Chance Harbour they only had limited powers because the covenant wasn’t complete. However, now that all six of them are together they have access to all their powers.

You Guys Are Crazy!

The Secret CircleNot surprisingly Cassie thinks that they are all crazy and she runs out of the house. Adam chases after her and when he catches up to Cassie he shows her their power by doing magic and making water float. He then tries to kiss her but she runs off.

Back to The Boathouse

That evening Cassie heads back to The Boathouse where she meets Diane. Diane tells Cassie that 16 years ago their parents were part of a coven of witches but something went wrong and people died, including Cassie’s dad.

As Diane and Cassie are talking a huge storm starts. Diane notices Faye standing out in the middle of the rain and realises that Faye is using her powers to start the storm. Diane runs out to Faye and tells her to stop the storm. Faye tries to stop the storm but she can’t…… never fear Cassie is here! Cassie steps in and somehow uses her powers to stop the storm. It looks like Cassie can use her powers and she is very powerful!

The Conspiracy

After the storm, Charles Meade goes to The Boathouse and finds Adam’s dad there alone. He attacks Adams dad using magic to fill his lungs up with water and warns him to not say anything to Cassie. Charles then walks out leaving Adams dad alive on the floor.

Charles then goes to Dawn Chamberlian’s (the principle) house and they have a shady conversation about Cassie. It seems like Charles and Dawn Chamberlian planned the killing of Cassie’s mum in order to bring Cassie to Chance Harbour.
