The Secret Circle season 1 episode 3 called Loner wasn’t what I was expecting in some ways. I thought the Loner that was being referred to was Nick Armstrong, who lost both his parents 16 years ago but it wasn’t. then I thought maybe if was the new character we meet during the episode called Zachary but again no. Instead, we find out that the Loner is none other than pretty little girl Cassie Blake. I found this hard to believe but if you don’t believe me then watch The Secret Circle online to see what I mean.
Faye Still Hasn’t Learn’t Her Lesson
Ok so last week Faye killed her classmate and her mother brought her back to life with a crystal. Of course Faye doesn’t know that but she does know that she’s lucky Sally didn’t die. Except Faye isn’t acting contrite or less obnoxious than usual. Faye continues to want to use her magic for mundane reasons such as opening the lock on her locker. However, now that the circle is bound none of them can do magic alone. An unfortunate side effect of the binding. Now another member of the circle is needed to do magic and the more members that are practicing magic together then the stronger the spell.
Sally watches Faye from across the corridor. Sally asks Cassie to help her with the school dance and tells her she keeps getting flashes of Faye. Sally thinks Faye is responsible for her accident while Cassie tries to change her mind.
Cassie The Loner
Cassie still isn’t into being a witch. She feels that now the circle is bound people are safe so there’s no reason to hang out with the other Coven members. Clearly Cassie has never seen Charmed before with the whole power of three thing.
Nick and Melissa
Nick and Melissa continue to have a secret relationship, even going so far as skipping school so they can knock boots. Melissa originally wanted their relationship to be kept quiet because she didn’t want to be seen as a slut, but now she just feels like a slut since all they do is sleep together. She tries to take their relationship into the light but Nick is just a dick and tells her he’s not really interested in her. he just wants her for sex.
Evil Parents
Charles cleans up Dawn’s mess and puts Henry’s body in the lake house making the lie to Faye at least partially true. Dawn feels bad for killing her daughters grandfather. Makes you think she wouldn’t feel bad if it had been anyone else, none related to Faye. Charles didn’t find any crystals at Henry’s house. Charles watched the kids bind the circle. Dawn and Charles realize they have to move fast before someone else catches onto what they are doing like Henry did. There are still people who remember what happened 16 years ago.
Diana asks why her dad and the principal are spending so much time together and Charles tells her they are dating. Diana is happy for her dad and wants him to be happy. She doesn’t seem to think through that it’s Faye’s mum so they might become one big family. I can’t imagine Faye being so calm when she finds out their parents are dating, even though it is a lie to keep the kids from figuring out what’s really going on. Charles let’s Dawn know that Diana thinks they are dating.
Blast From the Past
Zachary Larson meets Cassie and he doesn’t seem happy that she’s moved to town and plans to live here on a permanent basis. Really what other choice does she have since her Mother died and she only has her grandmother to fall back on? Zachary isn’t about to let past events happen again. Zachary knows what happened 16 years ago and he know about them being witches. Diana and Cassie use their magic together to get Zachary off Cassie.
Charles speaks with Zachary to see what it is he knows. Zachary was good friends with Cassie’s mum and Heather Barnes. He went to school with them and Amelia told him all about the magic and being a witch. Zachary attacks Charles and he is powerless to stop him since Dawn has the crystal.
When Charles recovers enough he calls Dawn and warns her about Zachary.
Zachary sees Faye trying to do magic by herself. Zachary asks if they have bound the circle proving his knowledge of the Craft. He realizes they have bound the circle because Faye is unable to do magic alone. Faye runs off before Zachary can harms her. He knows that all he has to do is kill one of them to break the circle. Faye runs to the school to find help from the crazy guy that just attacked her.
The School Dance
Yes even witches go to school dances. Adams friend Luke (guest star from Make It or Break It) asks Adam to introduce him to Cassie. Luke asks Cassie to the dance and she initially says no. Later she changes her mind and tells him she’ll meet him at the dance. [click to continue…]
Turns out Ethan Conant called Henry after Charles tried to drown him. We find out that Ethan and his circle were stripped of their powers after the tragedy 16 years ago. This would explain why Ethan didn’t fight back when Charles tried to drown him or how Cassie’s mother was killed so easily.
Just as Cassie is leaving The Boathouse, her car doors lock with her inside and smoke starts pouring out of the dashboard. It turns out that Faye wants to test if Cassie can use her witch powers. Faye uses magic to start the fire to see if Cassie could turn it out with magic. Well Cassie could not use her powers because she didn’t turn out the fire. Adam had to rip open the car door and csave Cassie while putting out the fire.
After telling Dianna that Chance Harbour ‘is a freaking sideshow’ Diane decided to make things weirder by taking Cassie to an old abandoned house. In the house Cassie find Adam, Nick, Faye and Melissa. They confront her and tell her that she is witch and she belongs to one of the six families of witches in Chance Harbour. They tell Cassie that up until she got to Chance Harbour they only had limited powers because the covenant wasn’t complete. However, now that all six of them are together they have access to all their powers.
Not surprisingly Cassie thinks that they are all crazy and she runs out of the house. Adam chases after her and when he catches up to Cassie he shows her their power by doing magic and making water float. He then tries to kiss her but she runs off.
